Cam Waters Fast But Out Of Luck In Perth

May 28, 2014
Cameron Waters Perth Dunlop Series event showed glimpses of huge potential at Round 3 of the Dunlop Series, however luck was not on the Team ENZED FPR driver’s side as he competed in two races at Perth’s Barbagallo Raceway.

Qualifying was promising, with a strong third place for the opening race.

Waters worked his way up to second place in the first race, before being issued a pit lane drive-through penalty for a pre race grid infringement, which dropped him back to 17th. Cameron fought back and clawed his way back to finish a respectable seventh considering the infringement.

In Race 2 Cameron started fourth due to the reverse top 10 grid. Taking off well Cameron quickly passed two cars before a broken tail shaft sidelined the ENZED falcon.

Cameron was philosophical, but looking forward to redemption at the next Dunlop Series round in Townsville July 4th -6th.

"Tough weekends will always happen in motorsport but when you have the car to win on both days it’s hard to cop. The car was perfect in Race 1 and I knew I had the pace to get Dumbrell, but then we got the penalty which was hard to take but you have to accept the decision, and the way I was able to fight back just showed how quick we were this weekend. I was in the box seat to win Race 2 and was actually conserving when I was catching Heimgartner because I thought I should save my rubber in case we had a Safety Car. We bled a heap of points in the championship this weekend that will be hard to get back but we won’t be giving up. We know have the car to win and that’s what we have got to do in Townsville.""
