Cam Waters continued his solid Supercars form in Darwin for the Triple Crown, taking his PRA Monster Energy and ENZED sponsored Ford Falcon FG-X to two more top 10 finishes over the course of the weekend.
Despite the warm conditions, Cam quickly adapted to his machine’s handling and ending up in 10th in qualifying for Saturday’s race.
Keeping his nose clean amongst a backdrop of close racing and even some carnage, Cam brought home the No 6 Falcon in a fitting 6th for Race 11 of the Championship.
With momentum from Saturday, Cam was fast enough to earn himself a Top Ten Shoot-out position, locking in 8th on the grid for Sunday’s race.
The sun was belting down on Hidden Valley for Race 12 but Cam battled on, remaining 10th for the majority of the race. Thanks to a late puncture for James Moffat, Cam Waters managed to sneak up one late position into 9th.
It was DJRTP driver Scott McLaughlin that greeted the chequered flag first, taking the top step of the podium, while Whincup and fellow Red Bull Racing Australia driver Shane Van Gisbergen finalised the top 3.
“It was a pretty tough old weekend but decent overall result. It was really hot in the car but my fitness is pretty good so I got through that okay. We learnt a lot though this weekend and we’ll bounce back strong in Townsville for sure.”
Cam is placed well in the Championship order, currently 9th and only 35 points shy of 5th place, so with continued consistency, Cam may well find himself even higher. Bring on the next round at Townsville!
